Properly maintained aerial devices, through a test and inspection program, are essential to the safe and economical operation of a fire department. Fire fighters depend on these units to perform structurally, mechanically, hydraulically and functionally as intended. An aerial device that fails could result in injury or death to a firefighter or to a person being rescued.
Danko Emergency Equipment’s comprehensive preventative maintenance programs are designed utilizing OEM recommended service intervals, you can be assured that your aerial is being serviced correctly and consistently and thereby ensuring the lowest cost of ownership and highest operational uptime possible. Our technicians diagnose aerial problems quickly, fix them correctly, and provide the proper maintenance on your aerial device to ensure the aerial functions properly every time.
UL is an independent third-party testing organization, and is accredited by International Accreditation Services for inspection and testing systems on re apparatus in accordance with ISO/IEC 17020, General criteria for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection. UL, the most recognized third party testing organization in the fire service, has been testing fire department apparatus, equipment and ladders for more than 40 years. Our aerial apparatus testing knowledge is extensive and unmatched and we apply that knowledge to all of our fire equipment testing.
UL’ s comprehensive test program includes:
• Nondestructive examination of all accessible structural weldments • Visual inspection of hydraulic and mechanical components of the aerial device • Torque veri cation of critical mounting bolts • Visual and ultrasonic inspection of all critical mounting bolts, pins and hollow I-beam baserails • Operational testing of the aerial device • Load testing of the aerial device (Free hanging weights – no pull down method) • ALL Waterway system tests • Hydraulic oil analysis as required by NFPA 1911
Nondestructive testing is performed by certified Level II NDT Technicians as speci ed in the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) CP189, Standard for Qualification and Certification of Nondestructive Personnel. We include all the necessary calibrated equipment to conduct aerial apparatus testing in accordance with NFPA 1911. Upon successful completion of the required testing, a certificate of inspection is issued.
