Nebraska State Fire School
On behalf of the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighter’s Association and the Fire School Committee, I would like to extend a special welcome to our 84th Annual Nebraska Fire School! The Fire School Committee, the NSVFA Board, the State Fire Marshall’s Training Division and countless others have worked so hard to bring you the training, fellowship, food and vendor connections that have made Fire School so famous. This year’s school will consist of 29 classes in all phases of firemanship, fire investigation, rescue, fire safety, leadership, officer training, fire prevention and EMS. The school is once again being held at Fonner Park and sites in and around Grand Island.
South Dakota Fire Chief’s Association Conference
The 2020 South Dakota Fire Chief’s Association Conference is coming up. This year we will be in Deadwood again, and we have another great line up for classes. This is a great time for all of the chiefs to get together and interact. This is not only for Chiefs but also for those in the fire service who are upwardly mobile in their organizations.

5th Annual Fire Chief Leadership Symposium
Speaker: Deputy Chief Steve Prziborowski
Tile: Courage Under Fire: Being the Best Fire Service Professional you can be in 2021 & Beyond!
Course Description:
This session is intended for all ranks of fire service personnel (current and aspiring) -firefighter up to fire chief. Some may say we have a leadership crisis in today's fire service, not to mention the World in general. I also think it could be argued that we may also have a followership crisis in today's fire service, as well as the World in general. For an agency, organization or fire department (volunteer, career, combination, etc.) to be successful, leadership and followership are both required. As a fire service professional in today's fire service, you must possess "Courage Under Fire" and continuously aspire to be the best you can be. The saying, "If I only knew then what I knew now" is the focus of this session.
Do you have what it takes to be a great fire service professional in the year 2021 and more importantly beyond? Personnel of ALL ranks will find some value to the information being shared and discussed, regardless of whether they ever want to promote.
Situations a fire service professional may face today can have severe consequences to the positive image of the fire service, their career, or the careers of those they lead or follow. If you are a Firefighter or Engineer, with no desire to promote, or no desire to be a part of the team or be the best you can be, then this session may not be for you. If you are an officer, and you want to be everyone's buddy, or never want to be "that guy or gal" when it comes to being the designated adult, then this session may not be for you. However, if you're willing to be the follower or leader you took the oath for when accepting the position, you will find some value to the information being discussed.
Current topics affecting the fire service, events that have occurred to the fire service (good and not-so-good), as well as personal lessons learned (some the hard way), will be shared and discussed in a positive and productive manner. Attendees, regardless of rank or type of department they serve at, will leave with numerous tips for leadership success!
